Welcome to the Compliance Home Page!
What is compliance? In a technical sense, compliance is one of two things: 1) Being in accordance with specific rules, regulations, policies and procedures that have been established by a governing entity (i.e.: the state or federal government, the School Board, school policy, committee by-laws, etc.); or, (2) the process coming into accordance with said rules, regulations, etc.
Unfortunately, because of the need to remain within the lines of "compliance", it can often seem as though certain processes are either much longer or much more cumbersome than they need to be, and people often feel that they are on a "stop-and-go" roller coaster in order to get things done.

Why is compliance important?Compliance is important for many reasons. The most frequently sited reason for organizations to stay in compliance is to avoid the potentially hefty costs of non-compliance (such as sanctions, time-intensive audits, loss of funding, etc.). Pecuniary reasons, however are not the only reasons that organizations strive to stay in compliance in all realms.
Luckily, since it can be so time consuming and cumbersome, compliance serves an additional, wonderful, purpose: it allows organizations to show the public and private sectors all of the good work that has been done! Often, some of the most valuable work that an organization does takes place "behind the scenes"--compliance is a way to showcase some of that hard work that is so necessary in supporting the work that we do as an organization, which, in our case, is educating our youth.
